We're Meghan & Matt, two travelers from the United States on a journey to travel 1,000,000 miles! For 2 years, we lived in our self converted van and traveled all over North America! During this time, we caught the travel bug, HARD. So we set a goal to travel one million miles! Now, we’re hiking, biking, driving, flying and even training around the world to discover as much as possible! Recently, we sold our van and packed up our lives into bags and boarded a one way flight to Europe, leaving behind no house, no car and not even a house/car. From now on, we will be living our of suitcases and traveling full time. How long is this lifestyle going to last? I️ guess you’re going to have to subscribe and follow along to find out!
Hope you are enjoying your first days of spring! 🌼 It was about this time last year that we boarded a flight to Barcelona for our 5 month trip of a lifetime!
We ended up taking 20 flights in 2023 and just this week, we took our first flights of 2024 and realized... Hey! We kind of have this process on lock. 😏
Now, I used to DREAD travel days, but after all that practice, we don't really feel that way anymore!
So, in this newsletter, I'm sharing some travel day tips! ✈️

Our Top Travel Day Tips
We just got back from our 3 night getaway to Florida, enjoying the 90 degree weather, sunshine and beaches.
Honestly, this was just the little vacation we needed to uplift our mood, get some vitamin D and enjoy some time away from our big project!
So, here are some things that have made traveling easier!
What you wear matters
👚 Opt for loose fitting clothing. Sitting for hours at a time, you don't want your stomach to me constricted and uncomfortable
I enjoy dressing up a bit, especially since we typically go into lounges and some have dress codes.
So I (Meg 💁🏻♀️) wear a loose fitting tank, cardigan (layers are good!) and linen pants.
Matt 🙋🏻♂️ wears a stretchy button down with a comfy tee under, and black pants that act like sweats but look like dress pants.
👗 Pack your arrival outfit. If you are traveling from cold weather to warm weather, make sure you prack and change. I️ will de-layer my top on arrival and change into shorts at the airport.
Plan your Transit Ahead of time
🚗 Before we even fly, we get on the same page about how we are getting to the airport and how we are getting from the airport to the hotel.
📞 Call the hotel and ask for the best way to get there from the airport. They will typically give you the simplest and cheapest options. They may even have a free shuttle!
This time, we used Uber to get to and from the airport & opted to park our car at the airport.
Nowadays, airports will also have dedicated places for rideshare pickups.
Pack food
So many people don't know you can take food through TSA. 🌮
It's not a movie theater. 🍿 You don't have to sneak in snacks!
Your only restriction is liquids. So, to save money and hanger and make sure you have some food packed.
I️ once flew to Vietnam 🇻🇳 with my aunt and after we went through TSA, she pulled out rice and grilled meat in a ziplock bag and instructed me to EAT! Good times...

Turn travel day from Drab to Fab!
Before we got into travel hacking, I️ kind of hated travel day. But since opening some credit cards that come with perks like free lounge access, I️ actually look forward to it! 🥳
I️ am really not sure why it took me until age 31 to get TSA Precheck... With this "certification", you can get through TSA in an expedited line.
I didn't even have to take my shoes off or laptop out. 💻
This was my first time traveling with it and I️ felt like a fancy lady. It also saved us from missing our flight to Florida... ha (oops).
It costs $78 for 5 years BUT here's a hack: If you get Global Entry, which allows an expedited customs experience when you return from international trips, you get TSA Precheck for free. Global Entry costs $100 for 5 years. 🌎
Matt and I️ both got Global Entry paid for by Capital One as a benefit of having the Capital One Venture X Credit Card. A few other credit cards come with this perk as well!
Enjoy the Wait with Lounge Access
😎 A private place to chill out before a flight, free drinks, food and snacks? Sign me up!
You can get into lounges at airports by walking up and paying an entrance rate (around $30), but we get into 1500+ lounges for free with Priority Pass. You can learn about it here.
Just this week, we started actually putting the airstream back together versus taking it apart like we have been for the past 5 months. This is a huge milestone because we've felt like this project is dragging on and on!
We cut our new subfloor (pictured) to size and are SO HAPPY we kept our old floor intact for reference. We still have some more work to do and we can reunite our new frame and floor to the shell.
When we were building out our van, we took a vacation to Hawaii halfway through and came back with SO MUCH motivation.
We're already feeling so pumped to return after taking the much needed break!
